Empathy is the ability to put yourself in someone else's shoes, and imagine what they might be thinking and feeling. Empathy plays a major role in strengthening trust, honesty, friendship, and intimacy in relationships.
BUT empathetic communication is not always easy! Common challenges include:
Understanding body language and emotional cues
Imagining others' thoughts and emotions
Knowing how to respond to emotional statements
In this 4-week group, we explore empathy in its multiple dimensions. We use a creative and engaging comic strip theme to learn about empathy, emotions and non-verbal communication, understanding perspectives and compassion. The group will include a mix of lessons, video clips, role playing and group discussions.
